National Service Scheme

At present the NSS volunteers strength is 50 among them Boys Volunteers 30 and Girls Volunteers 20.The NSS unit has been started for utilizing the service for betterment of people in slums and adopted villages.

The extension of services to the society is the third dimention of Higher Education in addition to Teaching & Research. The college NSS department is trying to link Higher Education with the Socio – Economic Conditions of the Society & hence the activities are undertaken for the welfare of the weaker section of the society. The college has undertaken multifarious activities in NSS for the development of the communities. Many programmes have been planned & executed by the NSS Unit & thus they have made effective impact on the society.

Activities

1. Participation in Atal Maha Arogya Shibir at Harangul on 7.10.2018.

The NSS volunteers, students of our college, teaching and non-teaching staff of our college actively participated in this Shibir conducted by State Government. The students took a memorable experience of serving the needy and persons suffering from various ailments/diseases.

2.Vachan Prerana Din(Dr. Abdul Qalam Jayanti)-15.10.2018
NSS unit of our college celebrated (Vachan Prerana Din (Abdul Qalam Jayanti) on 15.10.2018. Dr. Govind Jadhav of Dnyan Prabodhini, Latur was the chief resource person who guided the students about Dr Qalam’s work and the importance of reading.

3.Orientation Programme for NSS Volunteers-19.10.2018
An Orientation Programme for NSS Volunteers was arranged on 19.10.2018. Dr. Santosh Patil of Dayanand Arts College and also the Latur District Co-ordinator of NSS was the chief resource person. His guidance was valuable one.

4.Tree Plantation Programme-19.10.2018
A Tree Plantation programme was arranged by our NSS unit in the premises of Dayanand College of Law, Latur on 19.10.2018. A number of trees were planted in our college premises. Dr. Girish Pillai, Principal, Dr. Santosh Patil, Asstt Prof. Umesh Katekar and volunteers were present.

5.National Unity Day-Run For Unity-31.10.2018
On the occasion of Sardar Patel Jayanti, to celebrate National Unity Day a “Run for Unity” marathon was arranged on 31.10.2018 from Zilha Krida Sankul to Town Hall, Latur. On the same day, in our college “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) was celebrated. A well- known Shivshahir Shri Santosh Salunke was the chief resource person who guided the students in furtherance of national unity and spirit of brotherhood.

6.Celebration of Diwali with the residents of Matoshri Vriddhashram at Latur-5.11.2018
Our NSS unit celebrated the first day of Diwali festival at Matoshri Vriddhashram, Latur on 5.11.2018. The volunteers along with our college teachers stayed there with the grandfathers and grandmothers and intermingled with them. Certain essentials were distributed to them.

7.Blood Donation Camp-05.02.2019
On 05.02.2019 our NSS unit organized a Blood Donation Camp with the assistance of Bhalchandra Blood Bank, Latur. The volunteers and students actively participated in this camp and they showed their commitment towards the society. For making this camp successful our Principal Dr. Girish Pillai, NSS Programme Officer Asstt Prof Umesh Katekar, teaching and non-teaching staff took efforts.

8.Special Residential Camp at Gangapur, Tq + Dist. Latur from 14th March 2019 to 20th March 2019
A Special Residential Camp of our NSS Unit on “ Paryavaran ani Naisargik Sadhansampatti Samvardhan ani Swachha Bharat Abhiyan”  was arranged at Gangapur from 14th March 2019 to 20th March 2019. In this Camp various activities were conducted. It included speeches by eminent persons on present issues of Environment Protection, NSS and Nation Building & Role of Youth, Right to Imformation, Professional Ethics, Sant Gadgebaba’s Thoughts and Work; Diagnosis and Vaccination camp for cattles, Cleanliness programme, Prabhatpheri, Recreational and Reformative Programmes such as Kirtan and Puppet Show, Tree Plantation, Blood Group and Haemoglobin Test etc. were successfully conducted.

NSS Report 2020-21

  1. Celebration of World Population Day 11.07.2020

     

    On 11.07.2020, on the occasion of “World Population Day” our NSS Unit conducted an awareness programme about the population control in the Seminar Hall. In this programme our Principal Dr. Poonam Nathani guided us about the importance of population control and the role which we could perform in this important task. In her talk, she stressed the need of safeguarding the health and rights of women and girls now amid the pandemic, which was the present year theme of this World Population Day. In this programme, Dr. G.G. Panchal also spoke about the need of creating awareness about population control by using social media. In this programme, Dr. G. Lakshman, Dr. Sangita Mahajan, Dr. V.V. Chinte, Dr. P.G. Shinde, Dr. S.D. Panchal, members of non-teaching staff and Programme Officer were present.

  2. Celebration of Tilak Jayanti & Annabhau Sathe Punyatithi 01.08.2020 Celebration of Tilak Death Anniversary & Annabhau Sathe Birth Anniversary 01.08.2020-

     

    On 01.08.2020 our College observed 100th Death Anniversary of Bal Gangadhar Tilak. The staff paid tribute to one of the freedom fighters and recollected his efforts in uniting the people against the British rule. His intellect, courage, sense of justice and idea of Swaraj continue to impress us.Simultaneously College also celebrated Annabhau Satahe Jayanti. Sahityaratna Annnabhau Sathe was known for his literature, social work and political activism. The College paid tribute to Annabhau by maintaining social distancing due to corona pandemic. Only few staff members greeted and pledged to follow the values he has given to the society.   3. Special Lecture on “Rashtriya Sewa Yojana- Ek Yuwa Chalwal” on the occasion of NSS Day 24.09.2020

     

    On 24.09.2020, on the occasion of “National Service Scheme Day” a Special Lecture on “Rashtriya Sewa Yojana – Ek Yuva Chalwal” was arranged. Dr. Sangita Mahajan, Librarian of our College was the Resource Person who guided the volunteers and our students about the importance of NSS in student’s lives. During her lecture, she gave references of Mahatma Gandhi, Tukdoji Maharaj, Gadgebaba, Swami Vivekananda etc. to inspire the students to participate in NSS and to serve the society and to expand the horizons of their lives. The programme was attended by Dr. G.G. Panchal, I/C Principal, Dr. Panchal, our students, Programme Officer Asst. Prof. Umesh Katekar and etc.

  4. Tree Plantation 01.10.2020

     

    On 01.10.2020, a Tree Plantation programme was arranged by our NSS Unit in our College premises. At this programme, Dr. P.P.Nathani, I/C Principal of our College, Dr. Kranti Satpute, Principal of Dayanand Pharmacy College, Dr. G.G. Panchal, Dhanraj Joshi, O.S., D.P.Alandkar, Manoj Bajpayee, Sheshrao Birajdar, Kadam Mama etc and Programme Officer Asst Prof Umesh Katekar were present.

  5. Celebration of Gandhi Jayanti 02.10.2020

     

    On 02.10.2020, our NSS Unit observed Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. Dr. Poonam Nathani, I/C Principal highlighted the works of Gandhiji and stressed the need of adopting the philosophy of Gandhiji in 21st Century. Dr. Poonam Nathani, I/C Principal of our College, Dr. G. G. Panchal, Dhanraj Joshi, O.S., Manoj Bajpayee and Programme Officer Asst Prof Umesh Katekar etc were present.

    Online Quiz on “Wachan Prerna Din” 15.10.2020 –On 15.10.2020, an Online Quiz on Abdul Qalam Jayanti i.e. Wachan Prerana Din was arranged to memorize the work of our Late President and Missile Man of India Dr. Abdul Qalam. The quiz was consisted of variety of questions including the works of Dr. Qalam and the importance of reading etc. To the participants who qualified the quiz, the online certificates were also

  6. Vigilance Awareness Week (integrity pledge) 27.10.2020

     

    On 27.10.2020, as per the directions issued by the Government of Maharashtra in relation to the celebration of “Vigilance Awareness Week” from 27th October to 02nd November 2020, NSS of our College arranged a programme in the Seminar Hall.In this programme, the IntegrityVisit at gokul bal sadan to celebrate national education day & deepawali 12.10.2020 Pledge was taken by the faculty members and members of non-teaching staff in furtherance of following probity and rule of law in all walks of life as well to lead by example exhibiting integrity in personal behaviour. It offers a constant reminder that, every citizen should be vigilant and commit to highest standards of honesty and integrity at all times and support the fight against corruption.The theme for this year’s “Vigilance Awareness Week” was “Satark Bharat Samriddh Bharat”. Dr. Poonam Nathani, I/C Principal of our College guided us on the fundamental duties and offered a constant reminder that, all we should be vigilant and to commit to the highest standards of honesty and integrity at all times and support the fight against the corruption. At this programme, the faculty members, members of the non-teaching staff and the Programme Officer Asst Prof Umesh Katekar were present.

  7. National Unity Day 31.10.2020

     

    On 31.10.2020, on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Iron Man of India i.e. Sardar Patel our NSS Unit celebrated “National Unity Day” in the Seminar Hall. Dr. Poonam Nathani, I/C Principal of our College highlighted the work of Sardar Patel, his vision, patriotism, hard work for keeping our nation integrated. All the faculty members and members of non-teaching staff took a Pledge to preserve unity, integrity and security of the Nation. This programme was attended by Dr. G. Laxman, Dr. S.A.Mahajan, Dr. G. G. Panchal, Dr. S.D.Panchal, Dr. P.G. Shinde, Programme Officer Asst Prof Umesh Katekar etc were present.Essay Competition on “Maze Dhyeya – Bhrashtachar Mukt Bharat”/ “Mera Lakshya- Bhrashtachar Mukt Bharat” 27th October-02nd November 2020 -On the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week (27th October-02nd Nov 2020), Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded has arranged an Essay Competition for the college students on the topic of ” Maze Dhyeya – Bhrashtachar Mukt Bharat”/ Mera Lakshya- Bhrashtachar Mukt Bharat”. 5 students from our College actively participated in this competition.

  8. Visit at gokul bal sadan to celebrate national education day & deepawali 12.10.2020

     

    On 12.11.2020, on the occasion of Deepawali festival and National Education Day (11.11.2020) our NSS Unit visited to Gokul Bal Sadan located at MIDC, Latur and run by Swayamsiddha Mahila Mandal, Latur and affiliated to Women and Child Development Department, State of Maharashtra. The girls in the age group of 6-16 (total 30) were delighted by our visit. The importance of sanitization, wearing of masks and that of social distancing were narrated to them.On the occasion of Deepawali festival, sweets were offered to the inmates & the celebration of this festival in safe and simple manner was advised to them.

    Also on the occasion of National Education Day, educational utensil like registers, pens etc were distributed among the inmates. To this programme, Dr. Sangita Mahajan, Dr. Vikram Chinte, Dr. Pramod Shinde, Sapna Bhadade, Kadam Mama, Vyas, Volunteers, NSS Programme Officer Asst Prof Umesh Katekar were present.

    To this celebration, Dr. Poonam Nathani, I/C Principal,  Dr. G. Lakshman, Dr. S.A.   9. Krantijyoti Savitribai phule jayanti 04.01.2021

     

    On 4th January 2021, our NSS Unit celebrated Kranti Jyoti Savitribai Phule Jayanti in Principal’s Chamber of our College to honour her contribution towards society, women empowerment and education.This programme was chaired by I/C Principal of our College Dr. Poonam Nathani who highlighted that, Savitribai Phule is considered to be one of India’s first modern feminists and remembered for being India’s first female teacher who worked for the upliftment of women and untouchables in the field of education and literacy. She also was a well known poet who wrote poems in Marathi in which she advocated for values such as humanism, liberty, equality, brotherhood, rationalism and the importance of education among others. We should all bear in mind her immense work particularly in the fields of women empowerment and education.To this celebration, Dr. Poonam Nathani, I/C Principal,  Dr. G. Lakshman, Dr. S.A. Mahajan, Dr. V.V.Chinte, Dr. S.D.Panchal, Kadam mama, U.P.Dongare and Programme Officer Asst Prof Umesh Katekar were present.   10.  Youth parliament competition at aurangabad 06.01.2021

     

    Mahatma Gandhi Mission University, Aurangabad & Yuwak Biradari, Mumbai and ABP Majha had organized Departmental Youth Parliament Competition at Aurangabad on 6th January 2021. A team of 22 students from Arts, Science, Commerce and law colleges of Dayanand Education Society were selected for this prestigious competition. 3 of our Law students in this team actively participated in this competition held at Aurangabad and the team won second prize.

  11. Celebration of subhash chandra bose jayanti as “Parakram diwas” 23.01.2021-

     

    On 23rd January 2021, our NSS Unit celebrated 125th Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti as “Parakra Din”. The Chairperson of this programme, I/C Principal, Dr. Poonam Nathani provided that, Subhash Chandra Bose affectionately called as “Netaji” was one of the most prominent leaders of Indian Freedom Struggle. He was the Prince among all the patriots in India. He strived hard for the cause of independent India. His contribution is worth remembering.At this programme, Dr. Gopal Panchal, Dr. Vikram Chinte, Dr. Sachin Mane, Dr. Pramod Shinde, Dr. Shubhangi Panchal, D.P.Alandkar, Suraj Kokane etc. were present. It was anchored and vote of thanks was proposed by the Programme Officer.

  12. National voter’s day 25.01.2021

     

    On 25th January 2021, our NSS Unit celebrated “11th National Voter’s Day” i.e. “Rashtriya Matdar Diwas” in the Seminar Hall. At this programme, Programme Officer Asst. Prof Umesh Katekar highlighted the importance of this day. He provided that, 25th January 1950 is the foundation day of Indian Election Commission. Free and fair elections are the hallmarks of our democracy. The Election Commission of India is an autonomous constitutional authority responsible for administering election processes in India at national and state level. At the conclusion of this programme, a Pledge for Voters in the prescribed form was given to all the present staff members. The Pledge was to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections, and to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, language or any inducement.To this programme, I/C Principal of our College Dr. Poonam Nathani, Dr. Gopal Panchal, Dr. Vikram Chinte, Dr. Namdev Jadhav, Dr. Sachin Mane, Dr. Pramod Shinde, Dr. Shubhangi Panchal, Office Superintendent Dhanraj Joshi, Suraj Kokane, Sapna Badade etc were present.     Webinar Series on Socio–Legal Issues 12.02.2021 to 16.02.2021 –Our NSS Unit organized a Webinar Series consisting of Four Lectures on various socio-legal issues from 12th February 2021 to 16th February 2021.

  13. Webinar on “Invester awareness & career opportunities in financial markets 12.02.2021

     

    On 12th February 2021, a Webinar on “Investor Awareness and Career Opportunities in Financial Markets” was arranged. Mr. Jitendra Apte (CA) (J.N. Apte & Co., Mumbai) was Resource Person who effectively guided on the basics of share markets, meaning and need of financial management, difference between savings and investment, various financial instruments and the opportunities in financial markets. He also stressed on the need of better financial management for dealing with the issues of rising inflation in India.The welcoming address was given by Dr. G. Laxman, I/C Principal. Prof. R. R. Shetty introduced the guest and proposed vote of thanks. It was anchored by Programme Officer.

  14. Webinar on “Enforcement of right through write jurisdiction 13.02.2021

     

    On 13th February 2021, a Webinar on “Enforcement of Rights through Writ Jurisdiction” was organized. In this webinar, Eminent Advocate Rajesh Panchal from Bombay High Court was Resource Person. During his webinar, he explained the meaning and types of writs, their importance, the circumstances under which these can be sought, etc. He also gave examples of various issues like right to education, compensation to rape victims, compensation to the fighters/their legal representatives of war etc. during his guidance, he also narrated the examples of writ jurisdiction mechanism from various countries like USA & England.Dr. G. Laxman, I/C Principal welcomed the Resource Person. Dr. G. G. Panchal introduced him. This webinar was anchored by and vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. R. R. Shetty.

  15. Webinar on “a journey to safety- churning out road safety issue in India” 15.02.2021

     

    On 15th February 2021, a webinar on “A Journey to Safety: Churning Out Road Safety Issues in India” was organized. In this webinar resource person was Shri Sachinji Bang, Inspector of Motor Vehicles, RTO, Latur. This programme was arranged to meet the obligation of Road Safety Campaign run by Government of India during 18th January 2021 to 17th February 2021.Dr. G. Laxman, I/C Principal welcomed the Resource Person. Introductory speech and vote of thanks were given by Prof. R.R. Shetty. It was anchored by Programme Officer.

  16. Webinar on “role of regional officer in MPCB in implementing environmental legislation’s 16.02.2021

     

    On 16th February 2021, a Webinar on “Role of Regional Officer in Maharashtra Pollution Control Board in implementing the Environmental Legislations” was arranged. Dr. Pravin Joshi, Regional Officer, MPCB, Aurangabad was Resource Person to this webinar. He guided on the role of regional officer in preventing and controlling of environmental pollution. He also emphasized on the facts of deteriorating conditions of environment with the help of statistics from various districts from Marathwada region like Aurangabad, Latur, Beed etc. In the conclusion, he provided some effective solutions to prevent and control environmental pollution.The welcome speech was given by Dr. G.Laxman, I/C Principal. Dr. G. G. Panchal introduced the chief guest and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. S.D. Panchal. All the faculty members and no. of students attended this programme. It was anchored by NSS Programme Officer Asst Prof Umesh Katekar.This Webinar Series was taken benefit of by no. of students, faculty and teaching staff. After the filling up of feedback form after each webinar, the participants were issued online printable certificates.Online Awareness Quiz on “Road Safety and It’s Awareness in India” 17.02.2021 –On 17th February 2021, our NSS Unit organized an Online Awareness Quiz on “Road Safety and its Awareness in India” on 17th February 2021. The conduction of this quiz was intended to create awareness in relation to road safety measures and the related awareness among the various sections of the society. The participants with minimum scores were issued the online printable certificates on their registered mails.

  17. Chhatrapati shivaji maharaj jayanti 19.02.2021

     

    On 19.02.2021, our NSS Unit celebrated Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti. Dr. P.P. Nathani, I/C Principal delivered a speech on the commendable efforts of “Janta Raja” Shivaji in the establishment of Maratha Samrajya. She also revised his uncomparable work in administration, agriculture, peace, social justice etc. Dr. G. Laxman, Dr. V.V.Chinte, Dr. N.D. Jadhav, Dr. S. B. Mane, Dr. P.G.Shinde etc. were present at this programme.

  18. Webinar on Domestic Violence in Present Era 08.02.2021

     

    On the occasion of International Women’s Day on 08th March, our NSS Unit in collaboration with Women’s Study Centre and Library Dept of our College organized a Webinar on the topic of “Domestic Violence in Present Era”. In this Webinar Dr. Anjali Joshi, Professor & Head, Dept of Sociology, Dayanand College of Arts, Latur delivered a Special Lecture. In her lecture, Dr. Joshi highlighted the important issues like gender equality, rights of women, causes of and remedies against domestic violence, various government schemes for empowerment of women, laws for women against domestic violence etc. The Welcome speech was delivered by I/C Principal Dr. P. P. Nathani. All the faculty members & no. of students attended this programme. It was anchored by Librarian Dr. S.A. Mahajan and NSS Programme Officer Asst Prof Umesh Katekar proposed the vote of thanks.NSS Dept also organized an Online Quiz on “International Women’s Day” which intended to offer respect to womanhood and the related awareness among the various sections of the society. The participants of this quiz qualifying with minimum marks were also issued the printable certificates.

  19. Rajashri shahu maharaj jayanti and samajik nyay din 28.06.2021

     

    On 28.06.2021, the Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Jayanti (26.06.2021) was celebrated in our College. Every year this day is celebrated as “Social Justice Day”. On this occasion, I/C Principal, Dr. Poonam Nathani highlighted the commendable work done by Rajarshi. In her speech, she also revised the social & political work of Shahu particularly in the areas such as reservation, education, art, culture, sports, agriculture etc. This programme was attended by Dr. N.D.Jadhav, Dr. S.D. Panchal, D.P.Alandkar, Dhanraj Joshi, S.S.Kokane, Kadam Mama, U.P.Dongre etc. This programme was anchored by NSS Programme Officer Asst Prof Umesh Katekar who also proposed the vote of thanks.

  20. National webinar on “intellectual property rights & patent filing in India 29-06-2021

     

    Our NSS Unit organized a Webinar on the topic of “Intellectual Property Rights & Patent Filing in India” on 29.06.2021. Dr. M. M. Betkar, Principal. Shri Kumarswami Mahavidyalaya, Ausa was invited as Keynote Speaker. In his speech, he made all the participants journey of various intellectual properties, it’s kinds and protection, remedies in case of it’s breach with various examples. He also highlighted the process of patent filing in India. Dr. P.P.Nathani, I/C Principal welcomed the Guest. The Programme Officer Asst Prof Umesh Katekar introduced the guest. It was anchored by Miss Priyanka Deshpande and vote of thanks was proposed by Ananta Sule.

  21. National webinar on “basics of intellectual property law” 12.07.2021

     

    On 12.07.2021 our NSS Unit organized a National Webinar on the important topic of “Basicss of Intellectual Property Law” to make aware our students the dimensional study of intellectual property and related laws. Shri. Vijaykumar Shivpuje, Director of Patlex Business Solution, Latur was invited as keynote speaker for this webinar. During his effective lecture, he made us the journey of various intellectual property as well as related laws, its significance, objectives, various career opportunities in this field, patent registration and its procedure and also addressed no. of relevant issues. His guidance was highly informative and enlightening for our students. It was also of great use for our students in their future endeavours.Dr. P.P.Nathani, I/C Principal welcomed the guest, Programme Officer Asst Prof Umesh Katekar introduced the guest and the vote of thanks was proposed by Prof Ravindra Shetty.   22. Celebration of Sadbhavna Din/rajiv gandhi jayanti 20.08.2021

     

    On 20.08.2021, NSS Unit of our College celebrated “Sadbhavna Diwas” at Seminar Hall. This date is been celebrated as “Sadbhavna Diwas” every year on the occasion of birth anniversary of Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi. The theme of this Sadbhavna Diwas was to promote National Integration and Communal Harmony among the people of all religions, languages and regions. The idea behind observance of “Sadbhavna Diwas” is to eschew violence and to promote goodwill among the people.  On this occasion, a Pledge Ceremony was conducted in which the “Sadbhavna Pledge” was taken. This pledge underlines to work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people in India regardless of caste, religion, region and language. It also reminds to resolve all differences among each-other through dialogue and constitutional means without restoring to violence. This programme was attended by I/C Principal Dr. P.P.Nathani, Dr. S.A. Mahajan, Dr. G.G.Panchal, Dr. V.V.Chinte, Dr. S.B.Mane, Dr. P.G.Shinde, Prof. R.R. NSS Report 2019-20

1. In August 2019, the 50 students were admitted as volunteers of NSS. A meeting was called for under the guidance of our Principal Dr. Girish Pillai. The guidance offered by Sir was valuable and path showing for everybody of us.

2. On the basis of marks and interview conducted, Ashish Kutwade, one of our volunteers was selected as NSS Representative for the year 2019-2020.

In 2019-2020, various programmes were organized by our NSS unit which include the following-

  1. Tree Plantation (05.08.2019) –

    On 05.08.2019, a tree plantation programme was arranged in the premises of our college. Dr. Gopal Panchal, Dr. V.V. Chinte, volunteers and Programme Officer enthusiastically participated in this programme.

  2. Orientation Programme on NSS Day (24.09.2019) –

     

    On 24.09.2019, on the occasion of NSS Day, an Orientation Programme for our volunteers was arranged in the Seminar Hall. As a Chief Resource Person, Dr.Santosh Patil of Dayanand Arts College, Latur and District Co-ordinator of NSS SRTMU, Nanded. He guided our students in relation to establishment, objectives, and importance of NSS.  He also highlighted the important role of volunteers in the national building. To this programme, our Principal Dr. G.K. Pillai, volunteers and Programme Officer were present.After the conclusion of Orientation Programme, a Cleanliness Programme was arranged in our college premises.

  3. Lecture on “Career in Competitive Exams for Law Students (28.09.2019) –

     

    Lecture on On 28.09.2019, our NSS Unit arranged a lecture on “Career in Competitive Exams for Law Students” in collaboration with Career Guidance Cell of our college in the Seminar Hall. Shri. P.V. Sonawane, IRS Raipur was the Chief Resource Person who guided our students as well as volunteers for competitive exams. In lucid and simple language, he motivated the students to attempt for competitive exams and to serve the society in effective manner. Our Principal, Dr. G. K. Pillai, Dr. N.D. Jadhav also guided the students in this direction. The vote of thanks was proposed by the Programme Officer Asst. Prof. Umesh Katekar. A number of students attended the programme.

  4. Celebration of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (04.10.2019) –

     

    On 04.10.2019, on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (02.10.2019), our unit arranged a lecture of Dr. Ratnakar Bedge of Mahatma Basaweshar College, Latur in the Seminar Hall. He delivered a splendid lecture on the topic “Gandhism and Today’s Youth”. During his lecture, he emphasized the need of today to study, accept and implement Gandhian thoughts.After the conclusion of the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti, we took an oath “To Ban Plastic”. By this oath, we understood the negative effects of plastic on environment as well as on the health of living being and decided not to use the plastic or to use it in minimum extent. This programme was chaired by Dr. G. Laxman, I/C Principal who also illuminated all of us with the work of Gandhiji. This programme was attended by Dr. G.G.Panchal, Prof. Ravindra Shetty, volunteers were present to this programme. The Programme Officer Asst. Prof. Umesh Katekar and volunteers took efforts to make this programme successful.

  5. A Programme on “Financial Literacy and NSE in India” (05.10.2019) –

     

    A programme on “Financial Literacy and NSE in India” was arranged in the Seminar Hall of our college. It was the initiative of SEBI. Shri Pratyush Thakur, Mumbai who was the representative of SEBI and his colleague highlighted the need of financial literacy, financial planning, mutual funds, various financial products, importance of investment etc. It was an attempt to create financial literacy among our students as well as our staff members. Dr. G. Laxman was the I/C Principal who also spoke about the creation of awareness about the financial literacy among the students as well as staff members. The votes of thanks were proposed by Dr. Shubhangi Panchal. This programme was attended by Dr. G.G.Panchal, Prof Ravindra Shetty, Dr. B. B. Admane, Prof. Swati Patil, Prof. Unnati Jadhav. The students were present in the considerable numbers. The Programme Officer Asst. Prof. Umesh Katekar and volunteers took efforts to make this programme as successful.

  6. Lecture on “Voting Awareness – Need of Hour” (18.10.2019) –

     

    On 18.10.2019, our unit arranged a lecture of Dr. Balaji Ghute of Dayanand Arts College, Latur on the “Voting Awareness-Need of Hour”. Dr. Ghute stressed the need of voting awareness, to strive for increasing the percentage of voting, to strengthen our democracy by casting of votes at the election. He also guided to stay away from luring, gratifications etc. It was an attempt to create voting awareness among the students. In this programme, our Principal Dr. G. K. Pillai also guided in the line of strengthening our democracy by active participation of students as well as people in the society. At this programme, Dr. G.G.Panchal, Prof. Ravindra Shetty, volunteers and Programme Officer were present.

  7. Celebration of Diwali at SOS Balgram, Latur (24.10.2019) –

     

    On 24.10.2019, our unit celebrated Diwali at SOS Balgram, Latur. We spent considerable time with the orphans there. An MCQ exam of the orphans was conducted. After the exam, prizes were distributed to the topper students. We shared Mithais with them and ignited Panatis. Certain firework was also done. At this programme, Asst Prof. Budruke, Dr. G.G.Panchal, Prof. Ravindra Shetty, no. of volunteers and Programme Officer were actively present.

  8. Celebration of National Unity Day (01.11.2019) –

     

    On 01.11.2019, the “National Unity Day” was celebrated in our college premises. Our volunteers and students took an oath for the preservation and promotion of national integrity and unity of India. Dr. Poonam Nathani, I/C Principal, Dr. G. Laxman, Dr. Sangita Mahajan, Dr. Sachin Mane, Dr. Pramod Shinde, volunteer- students and Programme Officer were present to this programme.

  9. Constitution Day (26.11.2019) –

     

    On 26.11.2019, the “Constitution Day” was celebrated in the Seminar Hall. The Preamble of the constitution was read out and all we took an oath to preserve and protect our Constitution. Dr. Sangita Mahajan, I/C Principal, Prof. Ravindra Shetty, Prof. Rekha Bhosale, volunteers and Programme Officer were present at this programme.

  10. Blood Donation Camp (25.02.2020) –

     

    1. On 25.02.2020, in collaboration with Bhalchandra Blood Bank, Latur, a blood donation camp was arranged by our unit in the reading room of our College. About 30 students donated blood and showed zeal towards their social commitment. Dr. Poonam Nathani, Dr. Gopal Panchal, Dr. Shubhangi Panchal, volunteers and Programme Officer was present to this programme.Annual Special Residential Camp-The Special Residential Camp of our NSS unit was arranged from 03.03.2020 to 09.03.2020 at Gangapur, Tq + Dist. Latur. In this seven day residential camp a number of activities were conducted which touched various social, environmental and legal issues.

      The inauguration of this camp was conducted on 03.03.2020 by the auspicious hands of Shri Dattatraya Bansode, former President of Z.P. Latur. Our Principal Dr. Girish Pillai, Shri Sudhakar Shinde, Chairman of Tantamukti Committee Gangapur, Dr. S. A. Mahajan, Programme Officer Shri Umesh Katekar, volunteers and number of villagers from the village of Gangapur were present.

      On the second day of the camp, a camp of Blood Group and HB Test of Primary School (Z.P) students and of volunteers was conducted. The Bhalchandra Blood Bank, Latur assisted in conducting these tests in the camp. Subsequently, the premises of Z. P. School were cleaned and also the fencing of bricks was done to little plants.

      In the evening of second day, a “Samajprabodhanpar Kirtan” of Shri Ashok Kale Maharaj (Borgaonkar) was arranged. Through his kirtan, he created social awareness with the Abhangas of Sant Tukaram. He also stressed for tree plantation, environment conservation, water management, female security, de-addiction etc.

      On the third day of the camp, in the morning, we visited Gangadevi Temple of Gangapur. We cleaned the premises of the temple. After that, a lecture of Dr. Ratnakar Bedge on “RashtriyaSewa Yojana- Ek Yuva Chalwal” was arranged. In his lecture, he highlighted the importance of NSS as a movement in the nation building, sense of service to the society, environment protection etc.

      In the evening session, with the collaboration of Art of Living Family, Gangapur a “Nav-Chetna Camp” was arranged. Dr. Vasundhara Ghude delivered a speech for happy living and also demonstrated Bhastrika Pranayama, Omkaradhwani etc.

      On the fourth day of the camp, in the morning session, a camp with the collaboration of Veterinary Hospital, Gangapur was arranged to make diagnosis and remedies for cattle of the villagers of Gangapur.

      In the evening session, in “Nav-Chetna Camp” Dr. Ghude madam spoke on various topics such as river revival project, environmental protection, resource management and also on happy living, confidence building, healthy lifestyle, stress management etc.

      Subsequently, a programme called “Hasyatadka” was arranged. Shri Sumit Hasale and Shivputra Swami from Latur entertained the villagers of Gangapur. They also gave good messages to the society.

      On the fifth day of the camp, in the morning session, we conducted a survey of water storage as well of tap system in the village for Dengue and Malaria. This survey was conducted with the

      Collaboration of Primary Health Care Center, Gangapur

      Then, the 25 blind members from Swadhar Kendra, Budhoda were called in the camp. They demonstrated the Massage Therapy and Naturopathy to the patients who were suffering from various ailments and diseases.

      In the evening session, a “Sangeet Rajni” programme was arranged for the villagers. In this programme, all the members of Swadhar Kendra and our volunteers actively participated. The villagers also gave cash prizes to them. Our two volunteers played a skit on the issue of De-addiction. This programme was highly acclaimed by all.

      On the sixth day of the camp, in the morning session, the survey of water storage as well of tap system for dengue and malaria was continued in the village.Then, the speeches of Dr. Madhukar Giri and Dr. Laxman were arranged. They guided us on the topics of “Brain Management- Need of the Hour” and “Profession of Advocacy- Opportunities and Challenges” respectively.

      In the evening session, Dr. Vitthal Jadhav, Librarian of Dayanand Commerce College, Latur delivered a significant speech on “Sant Gadgebaba- A Biography and his Social Work”.

      On the seventh and last day of the camp, in the morning session, a “Tree Plantation Programme” was arranged in the premises of Z.P. School, Gangapur. The teaching and non-teaching staffs of this school and certain villagers were present for this programme.

      Subsequently, the conclusion ceremony of this camp and celebration of “International Women’s Day” were arranged in the Samuha Sadhan Kendra, Gangapur. The programme was chaired by Mrs. Gholap madam of this school. Mr. Hippargekar sir, volunteers and certain villagers were present in this programme.

      Activities performed during COVID-19 Pandemic –

      During the outbreak of COVID-19, our NSS Unit tried to spread, as much as we could, awareness in relation to downloading the Arogya Setu App by the volunteers, students, faculty members, members of teaching staff and the people in the society. Through social media, the link for downloading the App was spread as much as we could.

      Our NSS Unit kindly took sincere efforts to create social awareness in relation to the COVID-19 during pandemic by conducting various activities. Our volunteers contributed in this work by actively working in Anti-Corona Force, creating awareness through drawing, making a video on COVID-19, creating awareness for downloading Arogya Setu App etc. They on their levels, made people alert about it and narrated the precautionary measures to be taken against the Corona virus.

      On 24.04.2020, our NSS Unit conducted an online quiz to create social awareness in relation to COVID-19. The teachers, responsible citizens, parents and students showed their keen interest to attempt the quiz. The E-Certificates were issued to the good performing participants.
                                                                 

      Online Workshop on “Stress Manangement and Happiness (01.06.2020)

      On 01.06.2020, a One Day Online Workshop on “Stress Management and Happiness” was organized by our NSS Unit in association with the Art of Living Family, Latur. A senior trainer Dr. Vasundhara Ghude from Art of Living Family, Latur guided all of us to remain happy, healthy and stress-free during such a serious condition of COVID-19 and forever. She narrated the importance of Deep- Breathing, Meditation, Yoga and Pranayama including Bhastrika and gave related practical demonstrations. This workshop was a treat for mental, physical and spiritual enlightenment. The workshop was attended online by volunteers, students, faculty members and non-teaching staff of our College. Dr. Poonam Nathani, Principal and Programme Officer did efforts to make this workshop successful.

      Online Quiz on “World Environment Day” (07.06.2020) –

      On 07.06.2020, on the occasion of World Environment Day on 5th June NSS Unit of our College organized an Online Environmental Awareness Quiz to create a sense of responsibility, sensitivity and feeling of affinity towards environment. This quiz was responded well by volunteers, students, faculty members of our college and also of other colleges. E- Certificates were issued to those who qualified the quiz.

      Visit at Observation Home (10.06.2020) –

      On 10.06.2020, our NSS Unit visited the Observation Home for Girls, MIDC, Latur. The information about COVID-19 was given to the girls there and also stressed upon the measures to be adopted for protection against it. The importance of cleanliness, social distancing, using of masks and sanitizers etc. were highlighted to them. The masks and sanitizers were distributed to the girls and the employees of the Observation Home. In this programme, the Latur District Co-ordinator of NSS Dr. Santosh Patil, R.R. Bimanwar, Inspector of Observation Home, volunteers, Vyas Brijmohan and Programme Officer were present.

      Online Workshop on “Yoga @Home and Yoga with Family” (22.06.2020) –

       

      On 22.06.2020, on the occasion of International Yoga Day, our NSS Unit organized a One Day Online Workshop on “Yoga @Home and Yoga with Family” in the Seminar Hall of our College. Renowned Yog Guru Asst. Prof. Naresh Halke from Dayanand Pharmacy College, Latur enlightened us through theoretical and practical knowledge of Yoga, Pranayama, Asanas, Deep Breathing techniques etc. He guided us to resort to yoga for the preservation and protection of our mental and physical health under such serious pandemic situation. He also gave practical demonstration off Bhastrika Pranayama, Dhyana, Deep Breathing, and Kapalbhati etc. to counter with stress, strain, depression and various ailments. He gave the mantra of “Karo Yog Raho Nirog”. This programme was attended online by our Principal Dr. Poonam Nathani, Members of Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff and number of students of our College.

      Celebration of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Jayanti (26.06.2020) –

      On 26.06.2020, our NSS Unit celebrated Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Jayanti i.e. Social Justice Day with the auspicious hands of honorable member of Dayanand Education Society Shri. Vishalji Agarwal. Shri. Agarwal highlighted the major contribution of Shahu Maharaj in the eradication of casteism, movement for women’s education and primary education and also in the areas of agriculture, trade, arts and water savings etc. Dr. Poonam Nathani, Principal of our college, Dr. Sangita Mahajan, Dr. Gopal Panchal, Dr. Sachin Mane, and Dr. Shubhangi Panchal, members of non-teaching staff and Asst Prof Umesh Katekar, Programme Officer, NSS were present to this programme.

      COVID-19 Survey (29.06.2020) –

      On 29.06.2020, as per the directions given by the Human Resource Development Ministry and NSS Department of Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded through Resolution dated 12.06.2020; our NSS Unit conducted a survey to study the effect of COVID-19 on the rural life in the adopted village Gangapur and also in the nearby villages of Wasangaon, Chandeshwar, Khopegaon and Kavha. The survey was carried out through a Google form having a questionnaire about COVID-19. In this survey, the awareness level of villagers about COVID-19, the manner by villagers to deal with it and the defence mechanism adopted by them were taken into consideration. The survey was responded by the villagers of all age groups well. The guidance by our Principal Dr. Poonam Nathani played an important role for the success of this survey. The volunteers and Programme Officer Asst. Prof. Umesh Katekar took efforts to make this survey successful.

NSS Report 2018-19

At present the NSS volunteers strength is 50 among them Boys Volunteers 30 and Girls Volunteers 20.

The NSS unit has been started for utilizing the service for betterment of people in slums and adopted villages.

The extension of services to the society is the third dimension of Higher Education in addition to Teaching & Research. The college NSS department is trying to link Higher Education with the Socio – Economic Conditions of the Society & hence the activities are undertaken for the welfare of the weaker section of the society. The college has undertaken multifarious activities in NSS for the development of the communities. Many programmes have been planned & executed by the NSS Unit & thus they have made effective impact on the society.

  1. Vachan Prerana Din(Dr. Abdul Qalam Jayanti) – 15.10.2018NSS unit of our college celebrated (Vachan Prerana Din (Abdul Qalam Jayanti) on 15.10.2018. Dr. Govind Jadhav of Dnyan Prabodhini, Latur was the chief resource person who guided the students about Dr Qalam’s work and the importance of reading.

  2. Orientation Programme for NSS Volunteers – 19.10.2018An Orientation Programme for NSS Volunteers was arranged on 19.10.2018. Dr. Santosh Patil of Dayanand Arts College and also the Latur District Co-ordinator of NSS was the chief resource person. His guidance was valuable one.

  3. Tree Plantation Programme – 19.10.2018A Tree Plantation programme was arranged by our NSS unit in the premises of Dayanand College of Law, Latur on 19.10.2018. A number of trees were planted in our college premises. Dr. Girish Pillai, Principal, Dr. Santosh Patil, Asstt Prof. Umesh Katekar and volunteers were present.

  4. National Unity Day-Run For Unity-31.10.2018On the occasion of Sardar Patel Jayanti, to celebrate National Unity Day a “Run for Unity” marathon was arranged on 31.10.2018 from Zilha Krida Sankul to Town Hall, Latur. On the same day, in our college “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) was celebrated. A well- known Shivshahir Shri Santosh Salunke was the chief resource person who guided the students in furtherance of national unity and spirit of brotherhood.

  5. Celebration of Diwali with the residents of Matoshri Vriddhashram at Latur-5.11.2018Our NSS unit celebrated the first day of Diwali festival at Matoshri Vriddhashram, Latur on 5.11.2018. The volunteers along with our college teachers stayed there with the grandfathers and grandmothers and intermingled with them. Certain essentials were distributed to them.

  6. Blood Donation Camp – 05.02.2019On 05.02.2019 our NSS unit organized a Blood Donation Camp with the assistance of Bhalchandra Blood Bank, Latur. The volunteers and students actively participated in this camp and they showed their commitment towards the society. For making this camp successful our Principal Dr. Girish Pillai, NSS Programme Officer Asstt Prof Umesh Katekar, teaching and non-teaching staff took efforts.

  7. Special Residential Camp at Gangapur, Tq + Dist. Latur from 14thMarch 2019 to 20thMarch 2019
    A Special Residential Camp of our NSS Unit on “ Paryavaran ani Naisargik Sadhansampatti Samvardhan ani Swachha Bharat Abhiyan”  was arranged at Gangapur from 14th March 2019 to 20th March 2019. In this Seven Day Residential Camp various programmes were conducted which touched social, legal and environmental issues. It included speeches by eminent persons on present issues of Environment Protection, NSS and Nation Building & Role of Youth, Right to Information, Professional Ethics, Sant Gadgebaba’s Thoughts and Work; Diagnosis and Vaccination camp for cattles, Cleanliness programme, Prabhatpheri, Recreational and Reformative Programmes such as Kirtan and Puppet Show, Tree Plantation, Blood Group and Hemoglobin Test etc. were successfully conducted.The inauguration of this camp was conducted on 14th March 2020 by the auspicious hands of Shri Dattatraya Bansode, former President of Z.P.     1. Participation in State Level Disaster Management Program – 2017 –On 05.07.2017, NSS Unit nominated Mr. Shahrukh Patel, LLB II year student was nominated to attend State Level Disaster Management Shibir. Various trainings were imported to handle Disaster like situations and received the information and training relating to various disasters and its management. The Programme Officer Asst Prof N.D. Jadhav guided him to undergo the whole of the process.
    2. Tree Plantation Program – 02/07/2017 –
      On 02.07.2017, our NSS Unit organized a Tree Plantation programme in the premises of our College. The students took keen interest in planting the saplings and also committed to preserve the plants. The Faculty members and members from non-teaching staff, and students were present to this proramme. The Programme Officer Asst Prof N.D.Jadhav coordinated this programme.
