The Dayanand College of Law with a good standing of 50 years of yeoman service in imparting legal education, produced a galaxy of legal luminaries who are occupying positions of well repute at State and National Levels.
The informal Alumni Association of the College has been contributing for the advancement and growth of their Alma Mater at various levels. The enthusiastic wards who entered the portals of the College have forged an indelible factual connection with their Alma Mater and inextricable connections of the Alumni with the Alma Mater cannot be severed by time or distance.
The Institution cherishes the achievements of its Alumni and considers its Alumni an important stake holder and partner and the best supportive system in its journey towards the becoming a center of excellence. Institution is keen to maintain a very warm and cardinal relationship with the Alumni and constantly looks forward to their support in contributing to the shaping of the Institution and its ethos. In the light of the advancement and the changing patterns in legal education and academic programmes, the members of Alumni who are in the legal professional at Bar and Bench ought to play a vital role in guiding the students in their career and profession.
The College Alumni Association is a dynamic and a strong support system of the College which helps the College in arranging Internship, Placements, Workshops and Seminars. The Alumni members also give suggestions through feedback and periodic meetings regarding the developments. College has a vibrant Alumni Association, which consists of the practising advocates, judicial officers, judges, professionals, businessmen and so on. Some of the illustrious members of Alumni are also members of IQAC and contribute for the Institutional overall development.
College has a well-established and registered Alumni Association shall be called the Dayanand College of Law Alumni Association Latur and its office shall be located at the premises of Dayanand College of Law, Latur.
The Alumni Association is working for building strong bond between alumni and present students. The alumni give support to the students through interaction, arranging expert lectures, guidance, placement and internship. The Alumni Association of the Institute is called as Dayanand College of Law Alumni Association. This was registered under the Mumbai public Trust Act,1950. The office headquarter of DCL., is in the premises of Dayanand Education Society, Barshi Road Latur Maharashtra, India.
The mission of the Alumni Association is to foster a mutually beneficial relationship between the Institute and its alumni. Alumni meet is arranged on every four month of the year.

Objectives of the Alumni association

  • To encourage and promote close relations between the Institution and its alumni and among the alumni themselves.
  • To promote and encourage friendly relations between all members of the alumni body, an interest in the affairs and well-being of the Institution.
  • To provide and disseminate information regarding their Alma Matter, its graduates, Faculties and students, to the alumni.
  • To initiate and develop programs for the benefit of the alumni.
  • To assist and supporting the efforts of the Institution in obtaining funds for development.
  • To serve as a forum through which alumni may support and advance the pursuit of academic excellence at the Institution.
  • To guide and assist alumni who have recently completed their courses to obtain employment and engage in productive pursuits useful to society.
  • To organize and co-ordinate reunion activities of the Alumni and let the Alumni acknowledge their gratitude to their Alma Matter.
  • To collect, publish and distribute such information as may be useful to the alumni and their Alma Mater.

Activities and Contributions

Alumni are included as teacher in the College. They are invited for meetings at college and they interact with their other teachers and express their suggestions on curriculum revision.

Webinar on Role of Competent Authority under the Maharashtra Rent Control Act, 1999- Practice & Reality, Hon’ble Shri Mahes Thawre , Competent Authority/Judicial Officer, City Tehsl Office, Collector Campusn Nagpand alumni of the college has delivered a lecture on 03/02/2021 on “Role of Competent Authority under the Maharashtra Rent Control Act, 1999- Practice & Reality” to the students.

Role of Regional Officer in Maharashtra Pollution Control Board in implementing the Environmental Legislations

Dr. Pravin Joshi Regional Officer, MPCB, Aurangabad and Alumni of the College has delivered a Webinar on “Role of Regional Officer in Maharashtra Pollution Control Board in implementing the Environmental Legislations” on 16th February 2021. He emphasized on the facts of deteriorating conditions of environment with the help of statistics from various districts from Marathwada region like Aurangabad, Latur, Beed etc.

Induction Programme

An Induction Programme for BA.LLB.I, LL.B.I and LL.M.I year students was organized by the college on 8th May 2021 to orient students about college, its culture and ethos. Chief Guest of the programme a successful Lawyer and Alumni of our college Adv. Dhiraj Totla, Partner, AZB & Partners, Mumbai guided students about importance of law, its relevance in the contemporary society as well as the career opportunities after completing the graduation.

Criminal Law: Practice and Procedures with Special Reference to Rights of Women under Cr.P.C.

College has organized a webinar “Criminal Law: Practice and Procedures with Special Reference to Rights of Women under Cr.P.C.” on 19th June 2021. The distinguished and learned Resource Person Alumni of the College for the Webinar was Adv. Swapnil Tawashikar, Advocate, High Court Aurangabad. During his key note address he gave many valuable insights I criminal law by addressing various case laws and gave special emphasize in Rights of Women under Cr.P.C.

Indian Penal Code: A Practical Approach

Adv. J.P. Chitade, Advocate, District & Sessions Court, Latur and Alumni of the College has addressed the Students on “Indian Penal Code: A Practical Approach” on 02/08/2021. The learned guest Advocate mentioned the importance of Indian Penal Code with reference to legal practice. Being a major subject in the criminal practice as well as for judicial examination students have to pay more attention on the IPC.

A Lecture on Challenges of Competitive Examinations

A Lecture was arranged by Career Guidance Cell and NSS held on 28.09.2019 in the Seminar Hall. Our Pride Alumni Pradeep Kumar Sonwane IRS guided to students on “Challenges of Competitive Examinations” and how to successfully crack the examination.

A Lecture on JMFC Examination

Hon’ble Arjun Jadhav, JMFC was invited on 04.02.2020 to address and motivate the students with regard to JMFC Examination. He is pride Alumni of the College. Hon’ble Jadhav Sir shared his experience with regard to preparation of JMFC Examination in detail. He explained how to manage the time during examination and how to successfully tackle interview panel.

Lecture Series on Judicial Examination: 14-03-2020

Asst. Prof. and Alumni of the College Prof. Swati K. Patil Asst. Prof. Dayanand College of Law, L conducted a series of lecture on every second fourth Saturday on the subject prescribed for the judicial examination. Many students have taken the benefit of this series of lecture and got success in the judicial examination.

Introduction to Judicial Examination 09-02-2019

A Career Guidance Cell and Alumni Association of the College has arranged a Lecture on ‘Introduction to Judicial Examination’ by Miss. Swati Patil, Asst. Professor Dayanand College of Latur., Where steps in the preparation of judicial examination, books to be referred, art of writing examination and facing interview was elaborately discussed.

Role of Judges in Administration of Justice and the Students Role as Future Member of the Judiciary

Renowned Advocate and legal luminary Shri Adv. Sanjyaji Pande, Advocate, District & Sessions Court Latur graced the occasion on 18-08-2018 and delivered the lecture on the role of Judges in “Administration of Justice and the Students’ Role as Future Member of the Judiciary”.

Lecture Series by Adv. Prashnt Marale on Evidence Law

Career Guidance Cell and Alumni Association conducted Lecture Series by Adv. Prashant Marale on Evidence Act. The first Lecture was held on 25th August 2018. In this lecture series imparted detailed knowledge about Evidence Law to the Students.

One Day Workshop on Introduction to Judicial Examinations 23-09-2017

Career Guidance Cell and Alumni Association of the College has organized One Day ‘Workshop on Introduction to Judicial Examinations’. Former Principal District and Session Judge and Alumni of the College Adv. R. Y. Shaikh was invited to address the students for JMFC preparations.

A Seminar on Forest and Wildlife Conservation Social Awareness and Legal Implementation

A Seminar was conducted on ‘Forest and Wildlife Conservation – Social Awareness and Legal Implementation’, on 14 October 2017. The Resource Person was College Alumni Adv. Shri Rahul Kamble, Founder of Vanyajeevan Sanwardhan Sanstha, Latur. About 150 students and teachers attended seminar. The volunteers of the NGO demonstrated 8 different types of live snakes to the audience for creating awareness.

Guest Lecture on Legal Aid and Legal Services Authorities

Hon’ble Shri R.Y. Shaikh, retired Principal District Judge and Alumni, Latur was invited to deliver the lecture on Legal Aid and Legal Services Authorities on 23/03/2018. The Lecture was arranged under Women’s Studies Centre.

One Day Seminar on Cyber Crimes a Growing Threat

Bar Council Committee and Alumni Association organized One Day Seminar on Cyber Crimes — A Growing Threat on 22/10/2016.
The seminar was conducted to create the awareness about the importance of Cyber Crime. The number of internet user has grown tremendously and so does cyber-crimes. The lecture delivered by the Resource Person highlighted about the Cyber Crimes, Cyber laws and how to avoid the misuses of internet. Mr. AwezKazi, PSI, Crime Branch, Parbhani was the Chief Guest of the Program. Co-Coordinator of Alumni Association welcomed the gathering, Respected Principal expressed her views about the seriousness of cyber-crimes and the program was ended with the vote of thanks.

One Day Workshop on Sexual Harassment at Working Place

Women’s Studies Centre and Alumni Association of the college conducted One Day Workshop on Sexual Harassment at Working Place on 27th February 2017. Senior Advocate and Alumni of the College Adv. Vishal Dixit, Latur District Bar was invited a Resource Person of the Program and delivered a keynote address on the same. It was organized to sensitize the staff and students about the complaint Mechanism Authorities and Remedies under the Act. Staff and students gave their active participation.

Dayanand Study Circle’ is constituted in collaboration with Alumni Association on 24th September 2011 to facilitate the discussion on contemporary socio legal issues and to have the research oriented projects in Law field by students.

The major activities undertaken by the Alumni Association during the last two years

The dynamic and enthusiastic Alumni at the local Bar in Latur are constantly in touch with the College and ready to render every sort of support in various academic programmes. The Alumni conducted various programmes and delivered lectures for the benefit of the staff and students of the College in various seminars.

Conference on “Probation of Offenders Act and the Probation Laws”

On 18th March 2012, one day conference on Probation of Offenders Act and the Probation Laws was organized by the Alumni Association in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority. Hon’ble Justice Shri Nirgude Anand of Aurangabad Bench, Mumbai High Court was invited as the Chief Guest and delivered key note address. The District Judge Latur and all the members of Bench and Bar attended the conference. There was an active interaction between the students and Resource Persons.

Workshop on ‘Internship’ – 10th July 2012

The proud Alumnus Hon’ble Justice Shri Ambadas Joshi conducted a special programme on ‘Internship’ for the benefit of staff of the College. The District Judicial officers and the local leading members of the Bar are also invited to contribute their reflections on Student Internship Programme. It was also suggested by Hon’ble Justice to conduct special training programme for the students to enhance communication and advocacy skills.

One day workshop on Examination of Handwriting and Fingerprints

The Alumni Association organized one day workshop on “examination of Handwriting and Fingerprints,” in collaboration with District Bar Association on 26th Nov.2012. Dr. Ulhas Athale, an expert in study of Handwriting and Finger prints in criminal proceedings delivered a lecture on the theme of the workshop.

Various Avenues Open in Legal Career

On 23rd Feb 2013 the Alumni Association conducted one day workshop on “Various Avenues Open in Legal Career.” Senior Advocate Shri. Sudhakar Avhad, a reputed personality in career guidance for law students delivered the Key note address as the chief guest.

Golden Jubilee Alumni Meet

On the eve of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Society, a grand Alumni Meet was arranged on 26th May 2013. Hon’ble Justice Shri. Ambadas Joshi of High Court of Maharashtra and Goa delivered the address as Chief Guest . A Large number of Alumni including a galaxy of legal lumanaries attended the meet. Dr. Shivraj Nakade former Vice Chancellor BAMU and the founder Principal of the college was felicitated. The following proud alumni like Shri. Shivkumar Dighe, District Judge, Shri, P.M.Joshi, Regional Environment Pollution Control Board, former Principals, Professors and several others participated and they were also felicitated in a grand manner by the college. The meet ended with thrilling entertainment programmes performed by the students. Porf. B.B.Patil, the Organizing Secretary and the senior faculty, took the pride in proposing vote of thanks.
