Annual Report 2017-18
The Academic year 2017-18 watched and witnessed many events and successful achievements. To scale the academic heights the Principal and Staff with dedication and untiring efforts conducted various innovative programs for the holistic and all round progress of the students and the college. They are as follows
1. Felicitations to the JMFC qualified students – 16-06-2017
Dayanand Education Society arranged the felicitations to the JMFC qualified students on 16th June 2017. Seven students qualified the Judicial Magistrate First Class Exam conducted by the Government of Maharshtra. The program serves as an inspirational platform for those who aspire to achieve success in future.
2. Yoga Diwas Celebration – 21-06-2017
Dayanand Education Society celebrated Yoga Diwas on 21th June 2017 and conducted a yoga program from 6am to 7:30 am for all the colleges. The Staff of Dayanand College of Law actively participated in the program.
3. Curricular Activity of Human Rights Education Center
Center conducted Certificate course in Human Rights under the Co-ordinatorship of Dr.G.G. Panchal. Total 15 Students admitted to the course.
4. Tree Plantation Program – 02/07/2017
NSS Unit organized Tree Plantation Program under the co-ordinatorship of Dr. N.D. Jadhav, Program Officer.
5. Co-ordinator and Students at Lokadalat Panel – 08-07-2017
Final year students with Dr. G.G. Panchal participated as panel member at Lokadalat organized by District Legal Services Authority, Latur. Appreciation & Participation certificates were distributed by authorities. Faculty and students remain present till the Lokadalat called off in the premises of Latur District Court.
6. Felicitation for Ph.D completion to the Staff
The College felicitated Dr. G.G. Panchal, Dr. N.D. Jadhav, Dr. P.G. Shinde, Dr. S.B. Mane and Dr. S.D. Panchal for successful completion of their Ph.D Degrees.
7. Teacher’s Day Celebration -05/09/2017
Teacher’s Day was celebrated in the College on 05/09/2017 to acknowledge and appreciate the hard work of teachers. Students gave felicitations to all the teachers.
8. NSS Celebrated Harmony Day (Sadbhawana Diwas) – 25-08-2017 to 04-09-2017
NSS celebrated Sadbhawana Diwas with LLB III year and BSL V year students to commemorate the birth anniversary of earlier Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi. Having good feelings for others is the only mission behind the celebration.
9. NSS Orientation Program – 06/09/2017
To orient the fresher about NSS mission, aims, objectives and work to be done under NSS camps, Program Officer Dr. N.D. Jadhav conducted Orientation Program on 6th Sept 2017 Prof. Dr. Dongare S.V. Regional NSS Co-ordinator addressed the students.
10. Jail Visit – 19th August 2017
As a part of their curriculum Legal Aid Clinic and Human Rights Education Center of the College in collaboration with Latur District legal services Authority arranged jail visit on 19/08/2017 for its students. Thirty three students along with Dr. G.G. Panchal visited the Sai Under Trial Prisoner Jail Latur and surveyed barracks and interacted with Jail officials. The aim behind the visit was to facilities provides to the prisoners, security system, Law process, behavior of inmates, the framework of Rehabilitation and reformative activities for prisoners. Faculty and Law Students gave speeches on different criminal legislations and right of accused.
11. Felicitation program to congratulate Shri D.P. Alandkar Senior Clerk of the College 19/09/2017
The College felicitated Shri D.P. Alandkar, Senior Clerk for receiving “Best Non Teaching Staff 2017-18” award from SRTM University, Latur.
12. “One day workshop on Introduction to Judicial Examinations” – 23-09-2017
Career Guidance Cell of the College conducted One Day ‘Workshop on Introduction to Judicial Examinations’. Retired Principal District and Session Judge, Latur Adv. Shri R.Y. Shaikh was invited to address the students for JMFC preparations. More than 400 students participated in the Seminars. It was coordinated by Dr. N.D. Jadhav.
13. Book Exhibition – 23/09/2017
The Library committee conducted Book Exhibition for staff and students in collaboration with Asia Law Book house, Hyderabad on 23/09/2017.
14. Participation in Youth festival -23/09/2017 to 26/09/2017
The youth festival of SRTM University 2017-18 was organized by Gramin College of Engineering, Vishnupuri, Nanded from 23rd Sept. 2017 to 26th Sept. 2017 . The Cultural Department headed by Dr. P.G. Shinde nominated nineteen students from the college to participate in various competitions. Students were accompanied by Dr. P.G. Shinde ,Dr. S.A. Mahajan , Dr. P.P. Nathani and Dr. S.D. Panchal.
The College received two prizes in the festival –
♦ Miss. Rachana Waghmare, BSL IV year student received first prize in Lavani
♦ Mime (group performance) received second prize.
15. One Day Seminar on Gender Sensitization – 24/09/2017
Women’s Studies Centre organized One Day Seminar on Gender Sensitization on 24th Sep 217. Dr. Suresh Khole, Social Activist, Pune was invited as the key Speaker of the Program. It was arranged by Dr. P.P. Nathani.
16. Dandiya Program – 28/09/2017
Navratri Utsav was celebrated with full fun and enjoyment on 28/09/2017 at Dayanand Girls Hostel. To motivate & encourage the students and to bring out their hidden talents, best dress, best dandiya players awards were awarded.
17. Vachan Prerana Diwas – 13/10/2017
Dr. S.A. Mahajan, Librarian, conducted a program on Vachan Prerana Diwas on 13/10/2017 to celebrate the birth anniversary of BharatRatna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam by invinting an author Prof. Raja Holkunde, Mahatma Basweshwar College, Latur. He delivered speech on ‘Reading Habits and Writing Skills’. All the Teaching and Non Teaching Staff and Students attended the Program.
18. Felicitation to the University Toppers – 13/10/2017
The Hon’ble Management felicitated and appreciated University Toppers of 2016-17 academic year. The Hon’ble Management also acknowledged the success brought by winners of youth festival – 2017, winners of various sports activities.
The students who has distinguished themselves in the studies and various other activities were felicitated on this occasion with the auspicious hands of Hon’ble Shri LaxmiRamanji Lahoti, President, Dayanand Education Society, Hon’ble Rameshji Biyani, Secretary of the Society. The cash prizes of Rs. 5,000 to 1st Rank holders and Rs. 3,000 to 2nd Rank holders were awarded to the meritorious students for their outstanding performances in the Exams.
19. A Seminar on ‘Forest and Wildlife Conservation – Social Awareness and Legal Implementation.’ – 14/10/2017
A Seminar was conducted on ‘Forest and Wildlife Conservation – Social Awareness and Legal Implementation.’on 14 Oct 2017. The resource person was Adv. Shri Rahul Kamble, founder of Vanyajeevan Sanwardhan Sanstha, Latur. About 150 students and teachers attended seminar. The volunteers of the NGO demonstrated 8 different types of live snakes to the audience for creating awareness.
20. Socio-Legal Survey at Latur Jail- 23/10/2017
Volunteers of the Legal Aid Committee, under the orders of Hon’ble High Court and District Legal Services Authorities conducted a survey regarding the facilities available at undertrial prison at Latur. 20 students participated in the survey along with the Co-ordinator Dr. Shubhangi Panchal on 23rd Oct 2017.
21. Forest and wildlife Conservation – 07/11/2017
The college organized the visit of the travels of the forest department, Latur for awareness and sensitization regarding forest conservation. Shri. Patrande, Ranger Forest Officer, Forest Dept. Latur and other colleges gave information about the program to the students and teachers. The visit was conducted on 7th Nov 2017.
22. Essay Writing Competition-11/11/2017
The Legal Aid Committee conducted an Essay competition on ‘Importance of Legal Services Authority and its effects on Society’ 11th Nov 2017’ on the occasion of National Legal Literacy Day. Fifteen students participated and Miss. Ankita Dhoot (BSL V) , Kulkarni Priyanka (BSL V) and Sapna Nalegaonkar (LLB III) lagged the First, Second and Third prize respectively. The winner students were felicitated and cash prizes were given by the District Legal Services Authority, Latur.
23. Participation as a Resource Person in one day workshop on CEDAW –Women and children Rights- 12/01/2018
Human Rights Education Center Co-ordinator Prof. G.G. Panchal on the invitation from Dept. of Social Sciences, SRTM University, Nanded acted as Recourses person in one day Workshop organized by SRTM University, Nanded in the collaboration with National Human Right Commission, India on 12 Jan 2018.
24. Participation in State Level Disaster Management Program
NSS Unit nominated Mr. Shahrukh Patel, LLB II year student was nominated to attend State Level Disaster Management Shibir. Various trainings were imported to handle Disaster like situations.
25. Participation in Students Parliament – 19-01-2018 to 21-01-2018
26. World cancer Awareness Day -02/02/2018
The program was arranged to stress upon the early detection and cure of cancer by creating awareness One can detect it with its signs and symptoms and can consult a doctor at a very early stage. Dr. Mamta pariekh, Dentist surgeon was invited to address our students . Main purpose for observation of the day was to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment which will help in reducing illness and death caused by cancer. The Program was Co-ordinated by Dr. P.P. Nathani.
27. Annual gathering -2017-18— 15th to 17th Feb 2018
Annual Gathering was conducted from 15th to 17th Feb 2018. Many cultural activities including Dance, Singing, Skits, One Act Play, Traditional Day, College Day, Rangoli, Mehandi competitions, Twins day, Fun fare and so on were conducted refreshing the students and filling them with Joy, enjoyment and enthusiasm. Mr. Avinash Bharti, Social Activist and poet from Aurangabad was invited as a Guest and Mr. G. Shrikant Collector, Latur was Chief Guest in inaugurated the session and Shri Dhiraj Deshmukh, Member Zilla Parishad was Chief Guest for Prize Distribution Ceremony. Dr. S.T. Suryawanshi Co-ordinated the Program.
28. Marathi Conservation Day – 27/02/2018
The College celebrated Marathi conservation Day on 27th Feb 2018. Prof. Dr. Subhash Manikrao Kadam, Dayanand College of Arts, Latur was invited to deliver a speech on importance of Marathi Language and to motivate students towards Marathi literature. Dr. P.G. Shinde and Dr. N.D. Jadhav conducted the program under NSS.
29. Blood Donation Camp – 27/02/2018
NSS Unit, under the Program Officer Dr. N.D. Jadhav, Conducted Blood Donation Camp in the College in collaboration with Bhalchandra Blood Bank, Latur. Every Year NSS unit conducts the Blood Donation Camp to sensitize them about necessity and deficiency of Blood in emergency.
30. NSS Special Residential camp – 04/03/2018 to 10/03/2018
The Special Residential Camp under NSS was conducted at Nagzari village from 4th March 2018 to 10th March 2018. Social Services were served to the villagers. Students were accompanied by NSS Program Officer Dr. N.D. Jadhav and Miss. Swati Patil. Various activities were conducted to inculcate the social responsibility among the students. Different experts were invited from different faculties to guide the students.
31. International Women’s Day Celebrations – 08/03/2018
The College under Women’s studies Centre celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2018. The College acknowledged the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women Mrs. Uma Vyas, women activist and her group was invited to sensitize the students on gender issues. The group played Skit on “the Changing Roles of Women in Modern Society”.
32. One Day Training Program on Self Defence – 10-03-2018
Fourteen Girl Students got training for Self Defence on 10/03/2018. Mrs. Smita Khanapure, President, Congress, Latur organized One Day Program to empower the ladies to defend ourselves. Mrs. Surekha Gire was invited to train the students.
33. Polio Immunization Program – 11/03/2018
Dayanand College of Law rendered social services to put Polio Drops on 11th Match 2018. Forty students from BSL III, BSL IV and LLB II year were sent to serve the society with voluntary services in collaboration with Mahanagarpalika, Latur.
34. Visit to Consumer Forum – 22nd March 2018
As a part of ADR Practical, the College arranged District Consumer Redressed Forum visit on 22nd March 2018. LLB II year and BSL IV year students were taken to observe the proceedings conducted in the forum. The Panel Members of the forum generously guided our Students. The visit was co-ordinated by Dr. P.P. Nathani and Shri. R.R. Shetty.
35. Visit to Family Court – 22nd March 2018
The College conducted Family Court visit for the students on 22nd March 2018. The students watched conciliation proceedings conducted in Family Court and observed the way of Settlement of Disputes relating to Marriage and Family affairs. More than one hundred and twenty students participated in the visit.
36. Guest Lecture on Legal Aid and Legal services Authorities – 23/03/2018
Hon’ble Shri R.Y. Shaikh, retired Principal District Judge , Latur was invited to deliver the lecture on Legal Aid and Legal Services Authorities. The Lecture was arranged under ADR practical for LLB II year and BSL IV year students.
37. Orientation towards saving and Investment Policies under SEBI
In collaboration with Dayanand Commerce College, Law College conducted a workshop on Savings and Investment Policies.
Prof. Sarika Daima Lecturer, Commerce College was invited to address the Staff and Students.
38. Student Council Election (Formation of Student Council) – 23/12/2017
Student Council Election was contested as per University instruction on 23/12/2017 Mr. Nagtilak Venkatesh , LLB III year student was elected as the General Secretary of the College.
39. Moot Court Activities
The College team has participated in 5th National Moot Court Competition 2018 held on 3rd & 4th Feb 2018 conducted by Shankarrao Chavan Law College, Pune. The participant were Mooter (I) Ankita Dhoot (BSL V) Mooter (II) Gawade Monali (BSL V) Researcher Bhalerao Satish (LLB-III) our College team got prize of Best Memorial.
1. The College team has also participated in 13th National Moot court competition on 24th and 25th feb 2018 conducted by S.S. Maniyar, Law College, Jalgaon. The participants were Mooter (I) Mane Rahul Sanjay (BSL V) , Mooter (II) Lomate Pravin Ganpat (LLB III) and Researcher Jadhav Udhav Wamanrao (LLB III)
2. The College team has also participated in National Level Moot Court competition 2018 conducted by Law College, Osmanabad. The participants were Mooter (I) Shinde Manasi Shivajirao (BSL V) Mooter(II) Kale Prashant Tukaram (BSL V) and Researcher Jogdand kavita G. (BSL V).
40. Legal Aid Camp at Aambulga Village – 09/04/2018
The college organized One Day Camp at Ambulga village on 9th April 2018. More than one hundred thirty students participated in the Camp. The purpose behind the Camp was to empower villagers regarding their rights and to resolve their legal issues. The students worked to provide Legal Education and to build public awareness about the Laws. Four skits were performed by LLB II year students and BSL IV year students on various contemporary issues to inform the villagers about their rights. Six lectures were also delivered.
The Legal Aid Camp was inaugurated with the auspicious hands of Senior Advocate Shri. Madhavrao T. Ingale, and Senior Advocate Shri Jambhavantrao Sonkawde.
Students provided an inexpensive service of basic nature like legal advice, drafting of petitions and their documents of legal importance. Students of the college under the guidance of their in charge teachers rendered legal services and tried to resolve disputes of local people by mediation.
The visit made them to realize the reality of the society. The camp was conducted under Women’s Studies Centre Legal Aid Clinic and ADR Practical. Dr. P.P. Nathani, Dr. S.D. Panchal, and Shri R.R.Shetty conducted the Camp.
41. Socio-Legal Survey conducted at Ambulga – 09th April 2018
Socio-Legal Survey was conducted at Ambulga with Legal Aid Camp on the same day on 09th April 2018. Students were grouped to do the survey which helped in establishing good relationship with the people so they could openly discuss their legal issues with us. Students responded calmly and patiently and satisfied them with proper legal advice free Legal advice was provided to the Public in general. First hand information was collected and was analyzed under the guidance of Dr. P.P. Nathani, Dr. S.D. Panchal and Shri R.R. Shetty.
42. Sports Participation
The College teams participated in Inter-collegiate Badminton, Weight Lifting and Taekwondo competitions.
Shahrukh Patel LLB II year student received Prize in Inter- university Taekwondo competition.
In Inter-college Section Basket Ball competition Miss. Sapna Nalegaonkar, LLB II year got second Prize.
